Anita Oakley's enthusiasm for photography began when she got her first SLR at the age of 19. For many years photography took a backseat to making a living and raising kids, though she believes her children are among the most-photographed in the country!
Over the past 5 years Anita has had plenty of time to indulge in her love of photography, enrolling in classes, learning photography and darkroom techniques and experimenting with different forms of the art. Most recently, she has discovered the digital darkroom and claims she will never again return to a traditional darkroom. As she says, "I can edit, scan and manipulate my images to achieve the perfect print."
In nature and wildlife photography Anita has found the perfect marriage of her love of photography, travel and nature. She enjoys taking short photo trips throughout her home state of Texas and she has traveled and photographed in Bavaria, Yellowstone, Arizona, Kenya and Tanzania.
This past autumn, Anita traveled with us to Maine—her first-ever Joseph Van Os Photo Safaris trip. When we saw Anita's photos from the trip, we were so impressed that we invited her to be the Featured Client on www.photosafaris.com. Anita enjoyed her trip with us so much that, along with some of her friends from the Maine trip, she will be joining us on several future Photo Safaris. We'll look forward to seeing more of her work from upcoming tours.
