John Rowe

John Rowe has been seeing the world through his camera lens for more than 30 years. His travels have taken him to far-flung destinations where he has used his camera to document the wildlife, people, cultures and landscapes he’s encountered.

John first became interested in photography while attending the US Naval School of Photography in Pensacola, Florida. He served as a navy photographer for several years and then continued as a reservist throughout the first half the 1970s. His love for photography “stuck” and has been a part of his life ever since. His photos have appeared in advertisements, various publications, and on NBC News and CNN.

In autumn 2006, John traveled with Joe Van Os and 7 other Photo Safaris clients to a remote region of Ethiopia—the Omo River Delta. In the words of trip leader Joe Van Os—who has traveled to many remote corners of the world over the past 30 years—this trip was, "one of the most challenging, but also one of the most rewarding." John’s images below beautifully document the people the group encountered and befriended on their journey. You can see more of John’s images from this trip—as well as other areas of the world—at his website www.johnrowephoto.smugmug.com.
