Joe Restuccia recently returned from our Joseph Van Os Photo Safaris tour to Kenya’s Masai Mara
Reserve—his sixth time traveling with JVOPS. During the tour he created many wonderful
images and we are pleased to share some of them with our website visitors.
Joe’s entry into photography began in 1986 with a weekend job photographing two very
different types of events—weddings and high school sports. He credits this early
experience with helping him as a travel and wildlife photographer. From shooting weddings
he learned about lighting, portraiture and posing subjects. From sports events—as well
as his days of competitive skeet shooting—he learned to shoot quickly to capture action.
On his recent trip to Kenya, Joe was able to apply all his photographic knowledge and skills,
capturing the truly amazing wildlife crossings at the Mara River, as well as portraits of the
handsome Maasai tribespeople.
In addition to creating beautiful images of wildlife, native people and landscapes, Joe also
likes to train his camera on fellow photographers in the field, capturing candid shots of them
doing what they love.
In preparation for his future retirement from his career at General Motors, Joe is building his stock library and photography
