"I cannot imagine a life without wildlife photography!" Fritz Plking, the photosafaris.com Featured Client for July-August, 2001, leaves no doubt about that statement. For 40 years Fritz has traveled the world to photograph wildlife — from cheetahs in Kenya to pandas in China to penguins in Antarctica. For his efforts, he is recognized as one of the most widely admired wildlife photographers in the world. We are very pleased to showcase some of the images Fritz created on his recent Photo Safari to photograph the Wildlife of Brazil's Pantanal.
Born in 1936, Fritz grew up photographing the songbirds that nested in the garden of his family home in Krefeld, Germany. His photography has one many awards, including the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in 1977, and his images have appeared in numerous magazines including Geo, National Geographic, Der Stern, and International Wildlife. He has published his work in more than 18 books as author or co-author.
Fritz lives with his wife Gisela, who is also a wildlife photographer, in Greven, Germany. More of Fritz's work can be seen on his web site at www.poelking.com.
