Stoney and Jan Edwards' goal for their photography is to make people aware of the wonders of nature and the value
of preserving it.
Their first experience with wildlife photography was on safari in Kenya in 1994 with Joseph Van Os Photo Safaris.
Since then they have traveled the world—both poles, Europe, South America, the Pacific islands of New Zealand
and Australia, and several other countries in Africa!
Jan's career as a pianist and teacher reveals itself in her photography through a strong sense of composition,
and an understanding of color and shading. Stoney's work as an engineer in the semiconductor industry enhances
his knowledge of the technology of digital cameras.
Their images are vivid, captured through waiting for the perfect light or the perfect moment. Landscapes
take advantage of dark clouds and luminous mists or flowing streams. Wildlife images evoke emotions of tenderness,
peacefulness, agression or joy. You can see some of their work from their latest Photo Safaris tour—Eclectic
Holland—which yeilded some great shots of blossoming tulips, iconic windmills and primates at the Apenheul Primate Park.
For many years Stoney and Jan have shared their work through public exhibitions and slide shows in their community
of Los Altos, California. They have also been featured on the National Wildlife Federation website and were
finalists in the BBC Wildlife Photo of the Year contest. In February of this year they started their own company,
Edwards Studios, and now have a website www.stoneyandjanphotos.com,
